    ALUMNI DAY 2016

    Hello Gentlemen,

The annual KA-Beta Xi Alumni Day is set so please mark your calendars: it will be on Saturday, April 9th 2016. If you happened to be in attendance last year or perhaps just heard/read about it then you know it is a fantastic event. This year will be an almost mirror image of what we did in 2015: golf tournament followed by a luncheon at the golf course and then leaving the rest of the day open for you to visit the house/campus/Stillwater.

The golf tournament will be on the course at Lakeside Memorial Golf Course (5201 N. Washington  Stillwater, OK 74075). It's a shotgun start at 9:00 am, 4-man teams vie to be the champion. KA sponsors two holes and prizes will awarded to the individual who gets the longest drive (par 5) and closest to pin (par 3). Representatives from Dixon Golf will also host two holes and each participant has the chance to win some great golf gear. (see my post from last year to get more details on the Dixon golf). The fee per man is still just $40 which gets you what you need - cart/greens fee/hole assignment/great weather. Put anybody on your team you want, your wife/girlfriend/son-in-law/neighbor/Rickie Fowler it doesn't matter just get a team together.

The luncheon will be right after all teams finish up and will also be at the course in the clubhouse. You do not have to play golf prior to joining us all for lunch, please join us and enjoy some great BBQ. Bring a friend, your wife, maybe a potential rushee. Along with food I'll have drinks provided - water/tea/soda's/ginger ale and you can purchase beers at the clubhouse.

The rest of the day/evening is up to you, and I encourage you to visit the chapter house and meet some of the actives and look at our spectacular house. If you haven't heard about the current men of the Beta Xi chapter then you should know they are kicking some ass in the OSU greek system. Over the last years the actives have been tops on the lists of signed rushees/active #'s/grades/intramural sports, etc. Kappa Alpha Order is a well known name around Stillwater and these actives have done an amazing job in their continued representation of the KA ideals to support the Beta Xi chapter.

Contact me with any questions, now get your golf teams together and notify me of the team: c 918-640-3023 / or Facebook message.

*Dues/donations can be paid through this site as well, if paying for golf please notate that in the memo section.

Representatives from Dixon Golf will host two holes during our tournament - this is at no cost to the Alumni Chapter - two other holes are sponsored by the alumni chapter for prizes. Below is a description from Dixon Golf as to what they will be hosting:
The Dixon Challenge will be a part of our golf tournament this year.  The par 3 Dixon Challenge gives us an opportunity to enhance and gives golfers a chance to play a fun game for great prizes.  Dixon Golf, makers of the world's first high performance, eco-friendly golf ball, is pioneering a nationwide effort to reduce the 300 million golf balls deposited in landfills every year. In order to market this cause and the Dixon product, they sponsor charity golf events throughout the year. The Dixon Challenge takes place at thousands of tournaments across the country, raising more than a million dollars for tournament beneficiaries this year. Here is how it works:  For a cost of $10 per player, each participant will get an automatic mulligan at the tee box and they will shoot their ball and a Dixon eco-friendly Earth ball given to them when they arrive at the hole.  If either goes in the cup for a hole-in-one, the player wins two airplane tickets.  If either ball lands on the green then they win a $12 sleeve of Dixon Earth balls, and as long as all four team members play, the team gets an automatic birdie.  Just for their contribution, all participants get a free one year subscription to Golf Digest.  And best of all, we (Alumni Chapter) get all the net proceeds from the hole!

We will also have a skill contest on a par 5 hole — the Aurelius Driver Challenge.  On this hole a player contributes $20 with the net proceeds going to us (Alumni Chapter).  The player gets a mulligan at the tee box, four chances to win a $350 driver via two tee box shots on the course to put a ball in a hula-hoop and then two raffle tickets, a chance for an eagle if the whole team plays by taking their second shot on the par 5 from a 100 yard drop from the green, and a chance to win two airplane tickets by making a double-eagle.  Just for their contribution, all participants will get a gift certificate to receive a free hybrid golf club valued at $150.
I hope this will add a little bit more fun and excitement to the golf tournament; now get your team ready, sign up and get your entry fee paid and bring your best game. I look forward to a great Alumni Day.
    Jack Smith
    President, Beta Xi Alumni Chapter
